बालिका समृद्धी योजना : Balika Samruddhi Yojana –

Balika Samridhi Yojana (BSY) is a key initiative of the Government of India in support of the birth of a girl child and her education. The scheme was launched in the year 1997 with an aim to offer financial aid to girl born on or after 15 August 1997. The key objectives of the Balika Samridhi Yojana include –

WORKING WOMEN’S HOSTELS

The working women’s hostel is available for all women irrespective of their caste, religion, or marital status. Hostel facility is offered to women who are widowed, single, or separated from their partners. Married women who have no kin are also offered rooms in these hostels. Women under training are also eligible for the hostel facility.

Why Was Working Women Hostel Scheme Launched?

The scheme was launched to promote safe and conveniently located accommodation for working women. The scheme came in with daycare facilities for their children. The facility is accessible for women in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas, basically, everywhere employment opportunities for women exist. 

Eligibility For Working Women Hostel Scheme 

The working women’s hostel is available for all women irrespective of their caste, religion, or marital status. Hostel facility is offered to women who are widowed, single, or separated from their partners. Married women who have no kin are also offered rooms in these hostels. 

Women under training are also eligible for the hostel facility. The only condition here is that trainees should not occupy more than 30% of the total hostel’s capacity. However, the facility is available for them only if there is a vacancy available after accommodating working women. 

WORKING MOTHER WITH CHILD GIVEN SAFE AND SECURE ACCOMODATION

. WORKING WOMEN HOSTELS

  • Two Working Women Hostels have been set up in Delhi by the Department of Women and Child Development, Delhi Government at Vishwas Nagar and Rohini.
  • These hostels are being managed by Young Women’s Christian Association of Delhi
  • These Hostels provide safe accommodation to working/unmarried/widow/divorced/separated women.

IN MUMBAI , MAHARASHTRA THERE ARE MORE THAN 800 WORKING WOMEN’S HOSTELS for women with different econonomic abilities ranging from Rs65000 per month with food included (twin sharing) to Rs12,000 per month (twin sharing) without food. Tenants are required to verify the place before occupying.

Details

A scheme to promote accommodation for working women, with day care facility for their children, wherever possible, in urban, semi urban, or even rural areas where employment opportunity for women exist.

GOVERNMENT RUN HOSTELS IN MUMBAI

Working women, women under training for job may also be accommodated. Particular preference may be given to women from disadvantaged sections of the society. There are also provision for reservation of seats for physically challenged beneficiaries.

he rent does not include use of the mess and other facilities like washing machines for which user charges should be collected.

For women Under Training

  • The rent for women under training for job shall not exceed the rent to be charged from the working women.
  • The rent for such trainees may be charged from the institution/ organization sponsoring the training or from the woman herself.

Tenure of Stay

No working woman is allowed to stay in a hostel, assisted under this scheme for more than 3 years. In exceptional circumstances, the District Administration may, for reasons to be recorded in writing, allow working women to stay in a hostel, beyond the 3 year period, subject to the condition that the period of extension, shall not exceed 6 months at one time, and that the total stay of the woman, with extensions, shall not exceed 5 years.

OSC ONE STOP CENTRE FOR VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

The One-Stop Centres (OSCs) are set up by the Union ministry of women and child development for direct intervention in gender-based abuses and other cases of violence against women. OSC workers deal with survivors on a one-to-one basis and also liaison between them and the law enforcement agencies.

You can support the One-Stop Centres (OSCs) by spreading awareness about them and their services. You can also donate to organizations that support OSCs or volunteer at an OSC near you. OSCs are intended to support women affected by violence, in private and public spaces, within the family, community and at the workplace.

 Women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, irrespective of age, class, caste, education status, marital status, race and culture will be facilitated with support and redressal.

The Women Helpline (WHL) Scheme provides 24 hours emergency and non-emergency response to women affected by violence, both in public and private spaces by linking them with appropriate authority such as Police, One Stop Centre, Hospital, Legal Services etc. WHL also supports women in distress with rescue van and counselling services in addition to providing information about women welfare schemes and programs across the country.


The scheme is intended to provide 24 hours immediate and emergency response to women affected by violence through referral (linking with appropriate authority such as police, One Stop Centre, hospital) and information about women related government schemes programs across the country through a single uniform number. The helpline provides toll-free 24-hours telecom service to women seeking support and information by connecting them with Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) for all emergency services like police/ fire/ Ambulance services and with One Stop Centres. The WHL will also provide information about government scheme/ programmes, facilities and will also connect women with the statutory officers under various legislations like Dowry Prohibition Officers, Child Marriage Prevention Officers, and Protection Officers etc. as per requirement within the local area in which she resides or is employed2.
